We can all use more mindfulness in our lives.

Here are 5 ways to increase mindfulness in your busy mom life.

Meditate

Meditation is an ancient practice that helps us connect with our inner self.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t need to spend hours on end doing it either. Start with just five minutes.

Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Let go of everything else. When your mind wanders, let it go. Don’t get upset if it happens. Just come back to focusing on your breath.

Over time, you’ll notice that you’re getting better at meditation.

Be Present

Day-to-day mom-life can be incredibly overwhelming.

Finding presence during the day can help you stay calm and centered.

Put your phone down and be present.

Look around you. Gaze at something and marvel at it’s beauty.

Young kids are incredible at being present. if you have young kids, take a note from them and just immerse yourself in whatever they are jiving on.

Declutter

Having a bunch of “stuff” in your space can be overwhelming.

Clearing out a room is ideal, but if you are short on time, start with a shelf.

Take everything off the shelf and start from a clean slate.

Only put things on the shelf that you love to look at.

We are WAY to attached to “things”. If you really aren’t ready to part with something, put it in the closet. But try only having beautiful, lovely items on a shelf and see how it feels.

Time for Self

Taking time for yourself is incredibly important.

Hire a babysitter. Tell your partner.

Do whatever you need to do to make sure you are getting some time for yourself on a regular basis.

Moms are constantly providing support for other people. In order to show up as our best selves, we MUST take care of ourselves, especially in order to practice mindfulness. And one way to do that is to take a break.

Stop telling yourself that being selfish is wrong.

Being selfless is wrong.

You are not meant to be a bottomless well of support for others. You deserve time for yourself as well.

Get into Nature

Nature is incredibly supporting.

Go for a walk.

Listen to the birds.

Smell the smells.

Gaze at the trees/horizon/waterfall.

Getting into nature is a GREAT way to practice mindfulness.
